PRESS RELEASE: visit to London of Spanish king FELIPE VI (12-14 July)
The Spanish King Felipe VI is not in law
The Collective of Spanish migrants living in London is issuing this press release to the British and Spanish media, regarding the upcoming state visit of Felipe VI King of Spain.
- The King of Spain, Felipe VI, is actually an illegitimate phony outlaw. Monarchy in Spain was abolished in the polls the year 1931. The Spanish people voted for a Republican system of government, instead of the Monarchy. Alfonso XIII, Felipe VI’s great-grandfather, escaped from Spain to avoid being tried for treason to his own country.
- In 1936 a group of officers from the Spanish Army, with the decisive help of Hitler and Mussolini, rose against the 2nd Spanish Republic. After three years of a cruel war against the fascist alliance, Spain was defeated. That was more than half a million dead and the establishment of a dictatorship which brought Spain back to the Middle Ages.
- The so-called «Democratic Transition» (1975-1978) with Juan Carlos I as a symbol, was a farce, did not respect any of the historical rights of the Spanish people and was used as a subterfuge to provide impunity for all criminals, torturers and butchers from the dictatorship, and to maintain their privileges untouched.
- The coronation of Juan Carlos I as king of Spain, in 1975, was carried out by direct appointment from the dictator Franco. Juan Carlos 1st was a king imposed to all Spaniards and his son Felipe VI inherits this imposition and illegitimacy.
- If Juan Carlos I was notorious for his political confabulations, his ruthless elephant hunts and for his millionaire accounts in foreign banks (while the country sunk in misery), his son Felipe VI, in only three years of reign, has already attained a rejection from Spanish people greater still than his pervert father’s. Under Felipe’s crown dozens of political prisoners have been jailed and the democratic rights of the people have been criminalized. The Royal Family has been stealing public money with absolute impunity, with the complicity of a prostituted and corrupted Spanish Justice System.
- Having not agreed to seek endorsement for his crown (with a referendum for Monarchy or Republic), Felipe VI imposed himself like a fascist king, denying the Spanish people their right to choose the form of government that they desire. The Spanish Monarchy is nothing other than the continuation of Franco’s dictatorship, a dictatorial regime concealed under false and simulated democracy (the same day of his coronation, Felipe VI ordered the arrest of all those who bore republican flags in the streets of Spain).
With direct responsibility of this Felipe VI, and the antidemocratic Spanish institutions, a whole generation of Spaniards has seen denied their right to a dignified life and condemned to a servile migration. Under the reign of Felipe VI, basic human rights have been violated and there is a political repression only comparable with what Spain suffered under Franco’s dictatorship.
We, the Spaniards who had to leave our country to get a better life in UK, are not represented by this dishonest and fake King Felipe VI, especially now that the great majority of the Spanish people is asking in the streets the end of the Monarchy and the return to the Republic as the only legitimate regime for Spain. Every other system of government would be antidemocratic and dictatorial.
We invite all members of the British Royal Family, firstly Queen Elisabeth, Her Government and Parliament, to withdraw the invitation to United Kingdom for the Spanish Royals. We also invite the entire population of Spanish immigrants and exiles living in this country (as well as British people and anyone from any other country of the world) to join protest rallies that will be held against the insulting presence in London of Felipe VI.
